Gelence (Ghelința) is a village in Transylvania near Kézdivásárhely. Population number 4600 of which 4400 Hungarian.
The Roman Catholic Church of St. Imre was built around 1240. The frescoes were made in 1330, the cassette ceiling in 1628 and the painted board pictures decorating the chorus were made in 1760.
The organ was built by Johannes Baumgartner around 1750. Baumgartner was a German organ builder, he built several small organ with richly decorated ornaments, of which only very few remained. The organs of Baumgartner were "sounding jewelery boxes" with an unique sound. The organ was almost completely destroyed. It was restored in 2011by David Homolya's management and financial support. (Homolya Dávid is a Hungarian organist and musician living in Switzerland.)
The recording was made with my friend Megyaszai László in spring 2017.
